Dead Pulse
The author of the vampire book Blood Hunger delivers on the zombie front with an arguably slicker constructed horror, Dead Pulse.
What's striking from the off is that Dead Pulse packs in so much zombie action, gore and feeling. It ingeniously makes you feel you’re watching a great Romero film. Some locations that appear are indicative of the Night of the Living Dead and there’s a graveyard chapter reminiscent of ROFLD or Thriller but without the cheese.
Any undead fan will see it’s clear the author holds Romero in high esteem, I do like fast zombies but this sticks to the slow menacing dead, deadly in numbers. It’s not all well trodden ground, there some new territory covered, there a few pages where you follow the zombies POV’s which was interesting, it also gives some insight into zombie social structure. While it doesn’t explain the breakout, it’s puts forward interesting ideas which I won’t spoil.

Reasons why they are able to move leads to their temporary demise.
Spoiler END
Following different characters from the a desolate aircraft carrier to a town, city, compound holdout and body disposal plant, yes, disposal plant it’s a fantastic read. My only complaint is that there are a lot of characters for such a small book.
Dead worth checking out if you’re a fan of Romero’s movies or The Walking Dead graphics novels.
