Realist in Texas

I have read alot of things on this blog in a short time. Most of the idea's that I have seen run along the, " wait til the shit hits the fan, grab a gun, grab a car, loot a sporting goods store and run to the hills." I won't go into whats so very wrong with this here.

This is what I am doing NOW to arrange for my and my families survival. First of all... GET INTO GOOD PHYSICAL SHAPE. Your not going to survive 5 minutes against a roving street gang of robbers who are already meaner and tougher than you when the law goes away if your not ready and able to kick ass NOW... you wont live to your first zombie encounter. I know, I'm a prick, but the truth hurts.

Next, good survival training. What will you do when you get to the hills if you dont know crap about living in the woods. Most city people are literally, "Babes in the Woods", so start taking woodland survival traing now. Land navigation, basic trapping, woodsmanship.

Next, weapons. everyone and their brother will want to steal a gun and some ammo and run like hell. ask yourself, what kind of gun? Am I already good with my weapon of choice? can i clean it, repair it, do I have spare parts. How much ammo can I carry? can I do my own reloads? come on people, work with me here.

How much food do you have at home NOW? you better start making plans today on how to start getting long term storage food stuff NOW. Los Angeles has what, 5 or 6 million people? what will be left by the time you get around to looting a store... really?

I've got a years worth of MRE's, 10 mixed weapons, thousands of rounds of ammo, solar generators and solar stills. hundreds of gallons of water and diesel fuel.
I am still not ready. And no, you cant come to my house.
