When the zombie apocalypse comes weapons are going to be more valuable than gold,so my advice is if you come across military grade weapons like the M-4 or M-16 you have a great advantage in the fight,but the thing is that ammo for such weapons is not something you can find virtually anywhere. I suggest that if you come across this weapons only keep them until you run out of ammo,once this happens this weapons are practically useless,not to mention this weapons require a lot of micro maintenance due to their parts like the gas chamber. Carry with you weapons that you know are more likely to find ammo at department stores,gun shops and even houses. This weapons range from .9mm,.22,.40,357,.38,. 45 caliber handguns, shotguns,hunting guns. Also if you are to carry a fire arm with you at all times I recommend any Revolver type handgun because revolvers have a very simple mechanism that does not require as much maintenance as many other type of side arms. There are some great revolvers out there like the 357 Magnum, the .44 Magnum which have quite a powerful kick,but also useful handguns like the Raging Hornet, a .22 caliber revolver with capacity for 8 rounds and adapted to have a scope mounted.
