purify water seperate salt from sea water
by: Anonymous

this could be acheived very simply on a small scale on a ship adrift in the sea to get drinking water or as stated in a coastal situation. the _POT STILL_ used for the production of spirits heavely during the american prohibition period a staple of any zomby preperation kit. use it to seperate your mash into wiskey/antiseptic or use it to make clean salt/particle seperated water. a pot still is best accomplished with a tea kettle or a old stainless steel pressure cooker would be best. the idea is that u get clean lead free copper tubing and attach it to the kettle spout have the tubing make a loopey spiral like those childrens drinking straws and have the spiral sitting in a pool of cool liquid it aint gotta cold just cool but ice is the perfect material if you read this you know that if you need the still you wont have ice just a stream or pool of cool liquid out of the sun this will be your condenser and turn the boiled vapor/gas back into a liquid have the end of your copper tubing come out of the cool water and enter your drinking container depending on materials just a slope downward will do ending in a plataue with a drop off tip. Note once the salt is removed it would be advised to reheat the water in a salt free container or if another container was not on hand, clean all the salt crystals from the original container vigorously and reboil for at least 5 minutes. theres not enought space here and not enough time in my day to get in depth because dilling good spirits is a scientific proccess but done my settlers in the mountains so its not beyond any high school student. a google of the pasturization process of water and distilling spirits in detail would be very smart as the above is just the gist, it will give you more detailed instructions and conditions correct evaporation temperatures to save you from wasting materials through experimentation.
